The Martian #Book Review by MCD

The Martian Book Review by MCD

Innovative, Awesome, Amazing.... mind blowing...

I never imagined I would be reading a story that happens on 'Mars' which isn't a fantasy but almost dead realistic fiction. I am science student and of course a literate person but I don't know how NASA and their projects work. So this novel is an amazing one to get to know about them in a way that isn't boring.

Okay, putting my 'Iam a writer too' hat back on, I just can't imagine a plot so thrilling like this. The story takes place in 3 different areas:
1.Mars
2.Hermes (a space ship)
3.NASA
well my knowledge of those 3 are so poor that I have to google the meaning of many technical words author used in book.

He used 4 different narrations.
At first he made almost half of the novel with the narration of the 'Mark Watney' and then comes the 'NASA crew' narration which fries the plot crispy and later comes the 'Hermes' crew narrative that adds spice to the crispy fried story. Finally is the god point of view(3rd person), I don't remember exactly when this narrative began, it might be around when the watney's trip to Schiaparelli comes to halt due to tipping and tilting of his vehicle. that brought back the curiosity right when it is about to dilute.

The best thing about the novel is... its funny narration. Al thought all these stuff like mars, NASA, life, science is sooo complicated the author mixed all of them with a pinch of humor that made a delicious dish to the readers.

The way it started, the way it traveled, the way it ended, all parts of the story are so convincingly realistic that you begin to doubt that it might be based on real events. but hell no. No one ever went to mars (hey I am not a creep of space stuff. I came to know about it after a 15 mins discussion with google :P )

I really learnt a lot about choosing a plot and making it interesting to reader. The novel is of a great value to the amateur writers like me. I loved it Andy weir. thank you for penning it down. :)
